Infrared cameras translate the warmth signatures of objects into colours with a gradient scale, with bigger temperatures showing as lighter colors, and decreased temperatures and wet places appearing as darker colours.  Often called thermal imaging and thermography, IR technologies captures the light that exists just outdoors the obvious spectrum.
